Nursery Education Grant

The pre-school are able to offer full daycare for children from 24 months old.

Playaway offers the various Nursery Educational Grant which is available the term after the child’s 9 month, 2nd or 3rd birthday.
Our grant hours are between 9am -3pm.
30 hours childcare is available for eligible working families in England with children 9 months to 4 years, all children once they reach 3 years old will be entitled to 15 hours childcare the term after their third birthday regardless of family income and those families receiving support may be entitled to 15 hours the term after their second birthday if they are eligible.
To find out more information about the funding available please visit www.beststartinlife.gov.uk/childcare-early-years-education.

The grant funds 15/30 hours of free early year’s provision per week up to a maximum of 38 weeks of the year. 13 weeks in the summer term, 13 weeks in the autumn term and 12 weeks in the spring term.
We offer our hours between 9am-3pm and can over a variety of sessions 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm or a full day 9am-3pm.
If we are unable to accommodate your child with the full 15/30 hours you are able to use one other provider to claim the remaining hours per week that you are entitled to.

The pre-school has to follow rules set by the code of practice with regard to the Nursery Education Grant these are as follows:

  • The pre-school does not insist that you take your full 15/30 hours
  • We offer the funded sessions to all children of the required age
  • If your child is absent through holiday, illness or poor attendance your child loses the opportunity to learn, the pre-school cannot offer those unattended sessions at a later date
  • If your child is being phased into school there is no funding offered and you must pay the session rate if you use the pre-school between settling into school. However, if you deferred your child from school until the January term you may be able to claim the funding for the autumn term only until the start school in January.
  • The pre-school states that you give four week’s notice if you terminate your child’s place. This notice also applies to the Nursery Education Grant funded sessions.
  • If your child leaves within the term and starts another pre-school, you must inform Playaway pre-school so that we can amend our records with South Gloucestershire Council and the new setting.
  • All parents and legal guardians are to show the child’s original birth certificate to the pre-school leader who will need to photo copy it for our records. (All copies and information will be kept in a locked cabinet). You will be asked to complete a Nursery Education form and sign to agree to the terms and conditions and declare that what you have stated is the truth. Each term you will be asked to sign for the sessions you are receiving.

Registration Fee / Uniform / Snack Fees

When your child joins the pre-school a sum of £30.00 is payable if your child is not yet claiming the nursery education grant (this registration fee is non-refundable).

If your child will access the grant as soon as they start - we will ask for a £30 deposit to hold the place until they start and this will be refunded once the child joins. If you then decide you do not want the place when they are due to join, this deposit will not be refunded to you.

The Pre-school does have a uniform but it is not mandatory. If you are happy for your child to wear a uniform then the sweatshirts costs £12.00 each and the T-shirts £.9.00.

We do have a donation fee of 15p per snack towards snacks for your child, this will be invoiced monthly but this is voluntary. If you do not wish to contribute towards this, we are happy for you to supply your child with fruit for their snack.

Payable Sessions

We ask that fees are paid only by cheque or direct into our bank account. Payments are made one week or one month in advance; if you are in arrears of more than 2 weeks and payments are not met it will result in your child’s payable sessions being terminated.

The fees are £19.50 per 3 hours session (9.00 -12.00pm,12.00 -3.00pm), £6.50 for early start and/or extended sessions (early start 8.00-9.00am, extended 3.00-4.00pm).

If you are claiming 15 hours, this will entitle you to five sessions. If you are claiming the 30 hours grant this will entitle you to 10 sessions.
We offer the grant free hours between 9am and 3pm. If you wish your child to do any additional sessions or start at 8am or finish at 4pm then you will need to pay the fee for these additional sessions.

These fees continue to be payable if your child is absent due to holidays or illness.

If your child leaves the pre-school we require 4 weeks notice. If your child does not turn up for sessions without payment and letting the pre-school know we will try to contact you, if we cannot reach you, we can only hold your child’s place for a maximum of two weeks after which time your child’s place will be terminated.

Late collection of children

If you are 10 minutes or later picking up your child we do reserve the right to charge £10.00 late payment fee for being late as well as an extra hour. This applies regardless of whether pick up is during the day or at the end of pre-school. The late charge of £16.50 will be billed to you by invoice and will be payable in the same way as your normal fees. Please remember it is important to inform the pre-school if you are going to be late as staff may have personal commitments of their own after work day has finished. They may need to inform others if they are going to be late to pick up their own children from school or nursery. Please see our Health and Safety Emergency procedure policy for more information regarding this issue.
